Overview
Since 1937, Branford Veterinary Hospital has been committed to providing the highest quality veterinary care. We take pride in the large array of veterinary services we offer, and are committed to keeping your pet happy and healthy from their first visit through their geriatric years
Our practice was started in 1937 by Dr. Philip Gerlach. During those years, Branford was still a predominantly rural community, and most of Dr. Gerlach’s work involved helping farm animals. The practice continued to grow and changed ownership through the years until Dr. Gavaletz joined in 2009. Our original building was in use from 1937 until 2018. In July 2018 we opened our doors to our new hospital. The new state-of-the-art facility helps us better accommodate our clients and their pets

Branford Veterinary Hospital is widely regarded as a clean, modern, and compassionate practice offering thorough and knowledgeable veterinary care for dogs, cats, and exotic animals. The veterinary and support teams are frequently praised for their gentle handling of anxious pets, clear explanations, and respectful, empathetic approach during both routine visits and difficult end-of-life moments. While experiences are overwhelmingly positive, visitors note that wait times can occasionally be impacted by emergency cases, and front desk interactions can occasionally present challenges. Overall, the practice maintains a strong reputation for dedication, reasonable pricing, and high-quality animal care.
