In 1954, Dr. William V. Gallery founded Windcrest Animal Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. Windcrest Animal Hospital was once owned by the Zebley family. Dr. Bruce Damme started working at the practice in 1982 and purchased the hospital upon Dr. Gallery’s retirement in 1983. In 1993, Dr. Donna Namey began working at the practice, followed by Dr. Morgan Dawkins in 1998. In 2003, Drs. Namey and Dawkins became partners with Dr. Damme. Since our start in a small house with just one doctor, our practice has grown into a full-service hospital with 15 veterinarians. Our facility has had several major renovations to create a comprehensive and advanced medical and surgical center for our patients

What reviewers say
Windcrest Animal Hospital functions as a 24-hour emergency, specialty, and boarding practice equipped to handle routine wellness, critical care, and exotic animal medicine. The veterinary team is widely regarded as compassionate, knowledgeable, and particularly skilled in handling anxious pets and complex surgical cases, while boarding services frequently receive praise for attentive care and daily photo updates. The facility accommodates emergency walk-ins and provides structured end-of-life support. However, operations experience friction through occasional long wait times, high and unpredictable pricing structures, and communication challenges during intensive care treatments.
