Overview

Your premier destination for exotic pet care in Fort Myers, Florida. As the only practice in Lee, Charlotte, and Collier counties with a residency-trained, accredited exotic animal veterinarian, we take immense pride in our commitment to providing the best care possible for your unique pets

Dr. Medlin grew up in the Midwest, first earning his bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Iowa in 2003. He then earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at The University of Wisconsin in 2009. During his off-hours from his studies he spent his time volunteering for wildlife organizations such as the Macbride Raptor Project and the Four Lakes Wildlife Center. While in his clinical year of vet school, Dr. Medlin was fortunate to be able to spend several months gaining experience at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo, the Vancouver Aquarium, and the pathology department of the Milwaukee County zoo. After graduation, Dr. Medlin followed his passion for exotic pets into a one-year internship in exotic animal medicine with Dr. Scott Stahl in the Washington D.C. area. Following his internship, Dr. Medlin chose to pursue additional advanced training in exotic animal medicine with Dr. Stahl and so completed an ABVP residency in Avian Medicine and Surgery. During this time, Dr. Medlin lectured for the Mid-Atlantic Association of Avian Veterinarians on various topics in exotic animal medicine, as well as for local exotic pet rescue groups, and 4-H groups. After completing his residency, Dr. Medlin has continued to pursue exotic animal medicine at other clinics, most recently at the Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine in Seattle. Recently, however, he decided that it was time to settle down and open his own practice here in sunny Southwestern Florida with his wife, Claudia. He founded Medlin Exotic Animal Medical Services in February of 2014 with the goal of providing exotic animal pet owners with access to exceptional medicine when and where they need it
