Dr. Grace Shook started Driftwood Animal Hospital because she wanted to provide better healthcare than what's currently available in a world where the growing trend is corporate-owned, profit-driven, quantity over quality veterinary medicine. She walked away from her corporate associate position so that she could open her own practice. Dr. Grace was born and raised in St Petersburg, Florida. She received her medical degree from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She completed a large animal internship and residency at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. After her residency, she moved back to Florida to accept an associate position at a mixed animal veterinary practice. She left her associate position in 2017 to build a practice on her fundamental belief that the relationship between doctor and patient contributes significantly to the quality of care
