Overview
At Slater Animal Hospital we strive to provide quality client service and patient care, to help your pet live a happy, healthy life. Our small animal clinic provides preventative care, medicine, and surgery services in a friendly, small town atmosphere
Slater Animal Hospital was founded in 1990 by Dr. Don Sievers. He worked with his brother for 17 years in Slater prior to opening his own mixed animal practice in town. For approximately 20 years, Dr. Sievers saw both large and small animals, and while he was out on calls his associate Dr. Sempere treated dogs and cats in the clinic. The practice was transitioned to primarily small animal when Iowa State University wanted to use the livestock patients to help re-establish a large animal ambulatory service. The animals from our practice aided in filling a case-load void, and now ISU is one of the top large animal teaching hospitals in the country. As Dr. Sievers reached retirement age, Dr. Beth Wilkinson was looking to move back to the area where both she and her husband had grown up. It was a perfect fit, and Dr. Beth purchased the clinic in March of 2014
