When we imagined Ironhorse Veterinary Care, we made a wish list that went well beyond the scope of anything we had seen or experienced at a local veterinary clinic. Then we decided to do everything on it. Our founders, Dr. Trent Eddy, DVM, and Dr. Blake Dickerson, DVM, have been passionate in their quest to research and apply techniques that alleviate pet stress in the veterinary setting. This includes two decades of involvement in private practice and the animal welfare field, culminating in top medical roles at Kansas City's Great Plains SPCA. Undeniably, the veterinary clinic and animal shelter experience can be stressful to a pet. There are so many things going on new sights, smells, people, noises, and other stressed animals. We wanted to change that experience for our patients. As we researched and applied various techniques to reduce stress, we became more proactive towards ensuring an experience that was exceptionally positive for your pet. We realized that there was a need for a clinic dedicated to this approach. A clinic based entirely on being a compassionate alternative to the traditional veterinary experience. We decided to be the solution. We didn't take any shortcuts. This is our full dream. We have built this practice from the ground up based on our exhaustive experience in private practice and the animal welfare field, and further enhanced it with the Fear-Free philosophy by Dr. Marty Becker.
