Founded in 1973, North Deering Veterinary Hospital (NDVH) has grown from a neighborhood mixed-animal practice into the only independently owned, full-service veterinary hospital in Portland. In our earliest decades, we cared for cats, dogs, farm animals, and even the occasional horse! Then, in the 1990s, NDVH transitioned to caring exclusively for cats and dogs and became known as the region’s orthopedic referral center, providing advanced surgical care for patients from across Maine. Today, under the ownership of Dr. Kristen Matzkin and Dr. Kim Tippie, NDVH continues to build upon that proud legacy—offering a full range of modern services, including dentistry, surgery, ultrasound diagnostics, and integrative medicine. Located at 456 Auburn Street, our team remains dedicated to personalized, compassionate care and to continuing a tradition of veterinary excellence that spans more than 50 years
