Heritage Veterinary Hospital started its existence as an old barn that was part of Walker Farms just south of the town of Genesee, Michigan. Dr. Gregory Boggs and his wife Sandra purchased the property, along with the farm house and the old barn, in the year 1969. While living in the farm house, additions continued to be added to the barn, which had now become the veterinary clinic, until a late fall day in November of 1972 when a fire claimed the newly renovated clinic. Fortunately, no animals were lost or harmed in the fire. Half of the current "Heritage" today is the result of that rebuild. The late 1990's and early 2000's brought about other expansions to not only the building itself, but also the medical advancement of animal care and the addition of Dr. Nathan and Dr. Chad Boggs. 1997 not only brought the addition of Dr. Nathan Boggs, but also brought the addition of ultrasound, endoscopy, and CO2 laser surgery. In 1999, the size of the building would double in size to accommodate our current boarding, grooming, and special procedures area. Along with these areas also came an expansion of veterinary diets, two new exam rooms to accommodate larger breed dogs, and an extended laboratory and new ICU area. Dr. Chad Boggs would join Heritage in the spring of 2000 along with two sculptures by Dr. Jim Cunningham: one the veterinary medical symbol and the second a weather vane of 3 birds in flight. The 2010's continue to be just as exciting as the history of Heritage. The entire clinic would get a full top to bottom make-over in 2010 along with the addition of Dr. Seth Briggs in late December. If you are reading this, you have already found our new adventure to keep our clients informed and our four legged friends healthy. It is our hopes that this website will extend information to you quickly and keep you informed of current happening not only at Heritage, but in veterinary medicine. We would like to thank all of our clients for their patronage, because without you, there would be no history or story to tell
