Dr. Jack DeVries opened Northside Animal Hospital in 1935, but then moved the clinic to its current location on M-52 in 1948. The physical building has undergone updates and additions, but has been the home of Northside Animal Hospital since 1948. The DeVries designated 136 acres of land adjacent to the clinic to create the Devries Nature Conservancy. The DeVries' Historical Carriage and Sleigh Museum is on the site of DeVries Nature Conservancy and houses a large collection of carriages, buggies, sleighs and surreys. The Conservancy is home to 3.8 miles of walking trails, as well as farmland, forest and floodplain along the Shiawassee River. Please visit their website at www.devriesnature.org Dr. Craig Hook began working with Dr. DeVries in 1979. Dr. Hook purchased the practice from Dr. DeVries in 1980, where he continued the quality medical care begun by Dr. DeVries. He made improvements to the existing hospital and expanded the working space to allow for better veterinary care of pets. He also developed a particular expertise in surgical referral from other veterinarians. Dr. Skarich purchased Northside Animal Hospital in 2008 from Dr. Hook. Dr. Skarich valued the heritage of Northside Animal Hospital and supported the DeVries Nature Conservancy in a variety of ways. He will be greatly missed by many of our clients and patients. Dr. Collard purchased Northside Animal Hospital in 2023 and is proud to be the official owner and is excited to continue the heritage of this clinic. She looks forward to meeting all your beloved pets
