Overview

The Pinecrest Animal Hospital team is devoted to providing the highest quality veterinary care to all patients and clients. Our veterinarians strive to see every patient in a timely fashion while maintaining gold standards of care

Pinecrest Animal Hospital was founded in the fall of 1953 by Dr. Jerry Fries in Owosso, Michigan. He was a mixed practice veterinarian and was well known in the community for his expertise and willingness to travel where the patient was — including by plane and motorcycle! Along with his family, he maintained the practice until he passed in 1983 and the practice was sold to Dr. Rich Elsesser. Dr. Rich Elsesser continued the name Pinecrest Animal Hospital and moved the practice closer into the heart of Owosso in 1989. He began his career in large animals but reentered small animal practice with the acquisition of Pinecrest Animal Hospital. In 1991, he returned to equine medicine, and the small animal practice was taken over by Dr. Pritpal Rangi. Dr. Rangi cultivated his skills and knowledge at Pinecrest Animal Hospital, and in 1994, he moved the practice to its current location on M21 in Owosso. At this new facility, the practice has blossomed with advanced patient care and a dedicated and skilled team. The facility went under a massive expansion in 2015 to extend the patient treatment area, surgical suite, dental suite, kennel, and office spaces in order to continue to provide modern care and services. Pinecrest now boasts a strong skilled Veterinary team that includes Dr. Paul Rangi, Dr. Kenny Rangi, Dr. Tori Burzynski, and Dr. Sarah Huffman. The Pinecrest team has grown from having 1 full-time and 1 part-time support staff with Dr. Rangi in 1991 to now being a full-service veterinary hospital with 4 full-time veterinarians, a hospital administrator, and a support staff of 19
