Dr. Hargus graduated from NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. She received a Bachelor of Science from Mars Hill College with a double major in chemistry and math and a minor in biology. She has been practicing mixed animal veterinary medicine for 20 years. In 2003 her only child Haley Hargus was born. After working for several years Dr. Hargus decided to open her own practice. Dr. Herbert Justus (friend and mentor), Alton Maybin (cousin), and Grover Maybin (father) helped her open Animals R Us Veterinary Clinic in 2004
