Dr. Shadduck has always had a soft spot for the "less adoptable". From her first cat Calypso, who walks around without back feet, she has made it her mission to get every pet into a loving home. During her time studying at veterinary school, she found Potato. Officially Agent Romanov after the Marvel character, she was an aging dog in a crowded home of large, young dogs. Dr. Shadduck jumped at the chance to help give this old dog one last good home. Potato started off as a mangled mess of fur and creaky bones and Dr. Shadduck began her lifelong work. Through a combination of love and medicine, Potato perked up, put on some weight, got a haircut, and off she went on leisurely Sunday strolls while Dr. Shadduck took a break from studying. Roman Acres was chosen as the new hospital's name to honor Dr. Shadduck's first inspiration, Agent Romanov, or more affectionately, Potato. Dr. Shadduck and Roman Acres Animal Hospital strive to give every dog the care and kindness that brightened Potato's life
