Overview
The Columbus Humane Essential Care Center dramatically increases access to quality veterinary care and nutritious pet food for our neighbors struggling to get care for the pets they love
Columbus Humane was founded in 1883 by two teachers, Louise Phillips and Harriet Brocklehurst, along with several prominent community leaders. The Humane Society of Columbus was incorporated in December 1883. The name was changed from the Humane Society of the City of Columbus to the Capital Area Humane Society in September 1973. In September 1992, the Capital Area Humane Society moved animals into the present shelter at 3015 Scioto-Darby Executive Court, Hilliard, OH 43026. In September 2017, Capital Area Humane Society was rebranded and the name was changed to Columbus Humane. In October 2018, renovations to improve the quality of life of animals in our care were completed

What reviewers say
The practice provides exceptionally affordable, high-quality veterinary care alongside a supportive pet food pantry for community members in need. The facility is exceptionally clean and modern, featuring a warm, compassionate staff that handles pets with great patience and empathy, particularly during routine procedures and sensitive end-of-life moments. While the care and pricing receive overwhelming praise, scheduling appointments can be quite challenging due to high demand, and wait times at walk-in clinics can occasionally run long.
