Our journey began in 2012, when Dr. Dawn Bookmyer, a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, brought her vision of a community-centric veterinary practice to life. With over three decades of experience, Dr. Bookmyer crafted a hospital that stands as a testament to her unwavering commitment to animal wellness and community service. Dr. Bookmyer's expertise as a seasoned surgeon, wellness, and medical small animal care specialist set a high standard for veterinary excellence. Her dedication extended beyond the walls of our hospital, evidenced by her involvement in local rescue groups, the Shawnee Hills feral cat Trap-Neuter-Release program, and various community events. In 2023, after a fulfilling career, Dr. Bookmyer chose to retire, seeking to spend more quality time with her family, indulge in her hobbies, and contribute through volunteer work, while still practicing occasionally as a relief veterinarian. Now dividing her time between Shawnee Hills and her new lake house in South Carolina, she continues to embody the spirit of giving and caring!
