We are a relationship driven practice with an emphasis on providing compassionate care and a commitment to improving the quality of life of our patients. We also offer compassionate and skilled in home euthanasia services for companion animals

Dr. Megan Mathias (Wagner) grew up in rural West Virginia and has had a passion for horses for as long as she can remember. She was actively involved in 4H with her Arabian mare 'Phancy' who taught her many important lessons in life-- how to get back on after you've come off, that oftentimes to be fast, you need to go slowly, and that the hardest part of having an animal is when it comes time to say goodbye. The Hartland Equine logo is a silhouette of that special horse. Dr. Megan attended Bridgewater College where she majored in Biology with a minor in Equine Studies. In addition to her studies, she was an all-conference NCAA tennis player. Dr. Megan attended North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and was recognized with the Equine Senior Clinical Proficiency Award and the Ophthalmology senior student award in 2014. In 2015, she completed an equine medical and surgical internship at Woodside Equine Clinic in Ashland, Virginia. She practice mixed animal medicine in NC for 2 years before moving back to Markham, Virginia in 2017, to her family's farm 'Hartland', to begin focusing on her passion of equine medicine. Dr. Megan started Hartland Equine Veterinary Services, PLLC in 2020 with the goal of providing its clients with personalized care -- combining compassion with excellence in veterinary medicine
