Overview

Onion River Animal Hospital has been caring for pets in Montpelier, Berlin, Barre, and the surrounding towns in Central Vermont for over thirty-five years. Our Veterinarians and professional staff provide high-quality, progressive, and compassionate veterinary care, tailored to individual family needs. We are an AAHA Accredited practice, and we are also the first Fear Free Certified Practice in Vermont!

Onion River Animal Hospital was founded in 1983 by Dr. Colleen Bloom, when she moved to Vermont to escape the city life. Onion River Animal Hospital continues to be a locally owned full-service small animal hospital that has served the Central Vermont community over the last 43 years. Dr. Karen Bradley joined the practice in 2000 and is now the majority owner of Onion River Animal Hospital. Working alongside Dr. Bradley is co-owner and practice manager Joshua Blackmore, co-owner and veterinarian Dr. Anne Culp, and co-owner and medical director Dr. Lauren Quinn. Many of our veterinarians are also co-owners of the practice, including Dr. Kristi Magida, Dr. Bri Wilkinson, Dr. Hannah Flynn, and Dr. Alison Cornwall, reflecting our team's deep, long-term commitment to this hospital and this community. Our support staff consists of veterinary nurses, client care coordinators, and animal care assistants dedicated to providing exceptional care. We are proud to be a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and are the first Fear Free Certified Practice in the State of Vermont. Our sister location Dorset Street Animal Hospital is open in South Burlington on Sundays 8am – 8pm, for clients who need appointments when ORAH is closed
