Overview
At Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic, we combine compassionate care with trusted medicine to deliver personalized treatment in a warm, welcoming environment
Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic has proudly served Morgantown and surrounding areas since 1961, founded on the values of honesty, heart, and hometown care. Eugene "Doc" Owen graduated from The Ohio State University in 1961 with a vision: to open a veterinary clinic that embodied compassionate and honest care. That summer, he and his wife, Lola, brought that dream to life by opening Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic in a converted garage beside their home. By 1966, they had expanded into a purpose-built facility. Doc practiced both small and large animal medicine until his unexpected passing in April 1989. At the time of Doc's passing, his daughter Kelley Owen was in her third year at Tuskegee University's School of Veterinary Medicine. Lola kept the clinic running as a boarding kennel until Kelley graduated in 1990. That summer, Kelley reopened the practice in the same building—carrying forward her father's mission—with Lola remaining an integral part of the team as technician and manager. In 2014, we opened a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility right next to our original location
